Waterproofing Membrane
In accordance with the National Construction Code (NCC) all building elements in wet areas must be waterproof or water resistant in compliance with AS 3740 – Waterproofing of Domestic Wet Areas.
Designated wet areas are showers, laundries, bathrooms and toilets, so key building elements are required to be waterproof or water resistant.
There are a wide variety of liquid and sheet waterproofing membranes available in the marketplace. To guarantee the integrity of the tile installation the chosen tile adhesive, grout and primer must be compatible with the waterproofing membrane. All of the leading manufacturers produce a complete range of installation materials.
