Do you need to find a matching tile to existing floor or wall tiles? Have you damaged a tile, started a renovation and ran out of tiles? Are your existing tiles no longer available or discontinued?
At Nerang Tiles, we want to make matching tiles as easy as possible. This is a guide on How to find the closest match to existing tiles. We have outlined some simple steps you can take…
There a plenty of reasons why you would want to match new tiles to your existing tiles. These include:
You have run out of tiles and there are no more of the same tiles left in stock.
A tile has been damaged and you need to replace it.
You have started a renovation and need to use the same tiles you have already.
You like your existing tiles and want more for a new area.
Check Your Storage
At Nerang Tiles we always recommend that customers order an extra few cartons for wastage, cuts or as insurance for the future. This means that should you decide to renovate or a mishap happens you can always rely on finding the same tile in your closet, garage or attic. If you inherited your tiles in your home then it may be worthwhile to search the home to see if any loose pieces were stored by the previous owners or the person that installed the tiles.
Order the Same Tile
If you previously ordered your tiles from Nerang Tiles, the first step to finding the same tile as your existing tiles is to find your Invoice. Your invoice will have all the relevant information about your tiles. Once you have located the tile on your Invoice you want to order, call Nerang Tiles and provide us with the tile code or your Invoice number. With any luck the tile is still available and the same batch may still exist, Nerang Tiles can check all of this for you.
For peace of mind, we recommend ordering a current batch sample if your tile is available but not in the old batch to ensure that it is the same tile and that the shade is an appropriate match. Tiles are produced in batches and they can vary significantly, so it is important to check that the tile still matches if there is a new batch. HINT: Do not assume that just because a tile store has a tile by the same name that it will look just the same as yours. Tiles vary in appearance with every run (batch). Be sure to compare the new tile against your old tile before you leave the store.

Just as with tiles, not every grout is equal and they come in a variety of shades and colours. Try taking a piece of your existing grout to the tile store and compare it with the colour swatches available. Our design team can assist in matching existing grout.
Fuse New With Old
Finding the right replacement tile for a bathroom or any space in the home does not have to leave you feeling burned; knowing your options and keeping them open can spark matches that seamlessly fuse the old with the new.
Sometimes tiles get discontinued and the batches of the same tile can vary significantly. This can make finding replacement floor tiles and wall tiles time consuming and frustrating. At the very least you should be prepared for the fact that an exact match might not be available.
If the same tile is not available, it can be a fun experience to mix and match to create a completely new or compliment an existing design. Get creative with our expert design team by looking for a similar tile in a different colour. It is important to stay open minded and view your design with the possibility of creating a random or regular pattern with another colour. You may need to move some of the existing tiles around so that the pattern is more widespread.
